VCU, State and Regional Partners To Hold Emergency Response Exercise at VCU's Siegel Center This Week
VCU will hold a full-scale emergency response exercise alongside state and regional partners at the Stuart C. Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad St., on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community members will notice a large emergency presence in and around the Siegel Center connected to the exercise. Starting at 6 a.m. on Sept. 30, the 1300 and 1200 blocks of West Marshall Street and the 600 block of North Harrison Street will be closed to accommodate emergency vehicle parking related to the exercise.

Seeking Full-Time Post-Doctoral Scientist

Call for Art: Submit Works for 'Moving With Intention' Exhibit and Chance at $500 Best-in-Show Prize
To communicate the need for members of the VCU community to maintain awareness and safety on Richmond’s streets and sidewalks, VCU Libraries seeks visual works of art for a curated exhibit for The Cabell Screen – the big screen on the front facade of James Branch Cabell Library. Best in show honorees will receive a $500 prize. Students, staff and faculty and community members are invited to submit art. You may submit more than one piece for consideration. The art selected for “Moving With Intention” should capture, suggest or evoke feelings of alertness, vigilance, care, common sense and vulnerability in the university's urban landscape where car and foot traffic co-mingle. Works may suggest anxiety or danger but the curators are especially interested in works that articulate concepts of safety, care for others and accountability in positive, encouraging, community-building visual voices. Paintings, illustrations, comic arts, animations, short soundless films or videos, kinetic art or photographs – all visual forms – are invited.

Fat Bear Week
Check out Fat Bear Week at the Health and Wellness Library through Tuesday, Sept. 29. Watch a live stream of the brown bears of Alaska as they fatten up for winter by catching salmon. Cast your vote for the bear you think deserves to win and make special "vote" buttons of your favorite bear. The annual event will take place at the Health and Wellness Library, Gateway Building, Room G-112, 1200 E. Marshall St.

'MAXIMALISM' Exhibition
The Photography and Film Undergraduate Exhibitions Committee will host "MAXIMALISM," an exhibition celebrating bold ideas, big colors, strange processes, layered images, mixed media and work that refused to blend in. The exhibition will be on view through Friday, Oct. 9 at the Pollack Building, 325 N. VCU's Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies Is Looking for Healthy Volunteers To Participate in a Study Testing an Experimental Medication

Opportunity To Participate in Movement Assessment Research Study
The Research in Athlete and Military Health Sciences (RAMHS) group at VCU is seeking children, adolescents and adults (ages 5-70) for participation in a research study to assess movement patterns during walking, running, and sport-related tasks among healthy and injured patients. This study will require one initial study visit at the RAMHS Laboratory lasting about two hours. an electronic questionnaire about your health and sport participation and movement assessment while you are walking, running and sport-related tasks (jumping, cutting) with and without responding to thinking tasks. Up to five total visits within about one year of the initial visit, completing the same. activities. Parking will be validated for your study visit(s). Recruiting Participants for Research on Alcohol Use and Friendship
A study at VCU is recruiting participants to investigate the effects of alcohol use and reaction time within friendships. You may be randomly assigned to consume alcohol; you must be at least 21 years of age to participate. The in-person portion of this study will not take longer than two hours to complete.
